Daiwa BG Series Main Features & Technology:
Black Anodized Machined Aluminium Housing: Also known as “Hard Bodyz” Body & Side Cover. The body and body covers of BG reels are constructed of machined aluminum. This provides good structural strength to the reel and it’s internal components. Daiwa’s black anodization process is a step up from the usual painted surface that you find on most reels. This means the reel is very scratch and corrosion resistant.
Air Rotor System: Due to it’s shape, the air rotor system allows for a significant weight reduction in the reel. According to Daiwa this is up to 15%. This design also doesn’t compromise on strength, as it allows for a more even distribution of stress on the reel.
ABS Spool: Good casting ability is the corner stone of any good spinning reel. The ABS Spool system allows for a maximum spool load right up to the lip, with out having to worry about tangles. The design of the system allows for less casting friction. This gives the angler the ability of longer and easier casts.
Infinite Anti-Reverse & Dual Anti-Reverse System: The Daiwa Anti-Reverse Systems allow for the elimination of rearward back play in the handle.
For the BG1500, BG2000, BG2500, BG3000, BG3500, BG4000 there is the Inifinite Anti-Reverse System.
For the BG4500, BG5000, BG6500, BG8000 there is the Dual Anti-Reverse System.
Over-Sized DigiGear System: The BG series feature digitally developed and cut gears. The gears are designed to be over sized. Combined with the bearing system, this creates a very smooth operation. Also efficiency of the handle is significantly increased.
Solid Screw-In Handle: A solid handle is vital to fishing. There is nothing worse than fighting a fish and feeling flex in the handle, or worse the handle appears to be coming loose from the reel body. Daiwa has tried to alleviate this by using a sold screw handle design. This does a good job of eliminating play between the reel body and the handle.
Daiwa have really put some pressure on the market with the redeveloped BG series. This is a proven design that has been around for over 35 years. Many anglers have used a BG reel from Daiwa at some point.
At a price point of $99.95 up to $129.95, these reels are in serious running for one of the best value for money spinning reels available. Most people will know that this is normally a position that is held by Penn, but that may be no longer with Daiwas BG Series.
With 10 models ranging from the BG1500 up to the BG8000, there is a size to suit every anglers fishing needs. The smaller models are perfect for freshwater and inshore saltwater, and the larger models work well in nearshore and offshore saltwater fishing.
These reels can take a thrashing, and will perform every time. The BG8000 has been proven by many anglers to put a stop to large fish over the years.
If you want to get into some serious fishing, and don’t want to fork out for a more expensive reel like the Daiwa Saltist or Shimano equivalent. But you also want many of the features and reliability that come with those more expensive reels, then you need to seriously consider the Daiwa BG Series.
